Dolls, Teddy Bears and High-Wheeled Bikes
at Sauder Village August 2 & 3

Archbold, OH - With renowned doll artist Robert Tonner and doll exhibitors from throughout the Midwest and beyond our shores on hand, Sauder Village will be the place for doll enthusiasts to gather on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3 for the 25th annual Doll and Teddy Bear Show and Sale. A display and parade of high-wheeled bikes, doll classes and the popular “Private Preview and Sale” will add to the festivities of this fun-filled weekend at Sauder Village.

Through the years the Sauder Village Doll and Teddy Bear Show and Sale has maintained a reputation for its impressive scope of quality collectibles. Again this year more than 100 tables will be set in beautiful Founder’s Hall to showcase these treasured dolls. At this always-popular show guests can shop and enjoy an excellent variety of high-quality items including original, collectible and antique dolls and teddy bears. Also available will be accessories, supplies, clothing and patterns, furniture and books. This is an exciting opportunity to view an unusually extensive assortment of quality merchandise and meet other doll collectors who share the same passion for quality, craftsmanship and uniqueness.

This year’s featured guest is doll artist Robert Tonner. Robert Tonner’s life-long interest in dolls, top-level fashion designer experience, and designing and sculpting talents led to his creation of the Tonner Doll Company, one of the most successful and celebrated doll manufacturers in the world. The Tonner Company has manufactured fine dolls designed and sculpted by Robert, from little girl and classic character dolls to high-fashion dolls with exquisite collections of costumes. Robert purchased the Effanbee Doll Company in 2002 and has added his creativity to its legacy.

Robert has created a Sauder Village exclusive “Mary Lee” doll especially for this 25th anniversary show. The eight-inch doll represents Mary Lee Sauder, Erie's great-granddaughter, and is costumed in a lace-trimmed cotton dress with a white embroidered cotton pinafore, ankle boots and plaid cotton bonnet. This limited-edition doll is from the Kripplebush line of dolls that Robert has not made for some time. It is available for only $69.95 and may be reserved by calling Leslie Hartman at Sauder Village at 1-800-590-9755.

“We are thrilled to have Robert Tonner joining us for our Doll & Teddy Bear Show and Sale this year,” said Leslie Hartman, Sauder Village Retail Manager. “Robert is recognized around the world for his unique dolls and it is an honor to have him participating in our event again this year at Sauder Village.”

Other special highlights of the weekend include the Private Preview and Sale, dinner lecture and classes. The “Private Preview and Sale” is a unique opportunity for guests to visit the Doll Show on Saturday morning before the doors open to the general public. For only $25.00, guests can purchase a ticket to this private preview and receive a 2-day pass to the Village, special offers throughout Founder’s Hall, a Sauder Village Coupon Book and the chance to win an overnight stay at the Sauder Heritage Inn. For more details or to purchase a ticket for the Private Preview call Jan Nofziger at Sauder Village.

Another special feature of the weekend is an opportunity to learn more about Robert’s dolls and share a special evening with other doll collectors during the annual Saturday evening dinner lecture. Robert will share his doll making experiences as well as what is new for the future of dolls. This special event is always a wonderful time to make new friends and renew old friendships. Reserve your seats now for this relaxing and enjoyable evening at the Sauder Heritage Inn for only $25.00. There are also special classes being held in conjunction with this annual show and sale. A limited number of spaces are also available in the “The Art of Newborning” workshop.
