Ohio
Chautauqua
Tuesday - Saturday, July 7 - 11
The Ohio Chautauqua is returning to Archbold. In 2002, Sauder
Village and other community partners hosted this five-day event
that combines living history, music and entertainment,
education, theater, and audience interaction in an exciting
cultural event the entire community can enjoy.
The community of Archbold is hosting this year’s Ohio
Chautauqua, starting Tuesday, July 7 and running through
Saturday, July 11. The evening performances, in the big red and
white tent located in Ruihley Park, will begin
each evening at 7:30. This year’s theme is Inventors &
Innovators. This series will explore the legacies of those
who helped shape our modern world. Characters for Ohio
Chautauqua 2009 are inventor Thomas Edison, educator Mary McLeod
Bethune, industrialist Andrew Carnegie, scientist George
Washington Carver, and inventor Alexander Graham Bell.
For questions or further information, contact the
Archbold Park Board
at (419) 445-4025 or the
Archbold Chamber of Commerce
at (419) 445-2222.
The Ohio Humanities Council, the premier facilitator of
humanities programs across the state, will present this exciting
series. Additional support comes from The Ohio State University
Humanities Institute.
2009 Arts Gone Wild
Friday & Saturday, August 7 & 8
This festival will take place at The Toledo Botanical
Garden. For the second year, the area’s leading cultural
organizations will showcase their wealth of cultural
experiences, featuring free performances, demonstrations, story
telling, strolling performers, hands-on activities and more!

The Gift Shop, General Store, Village Trader
and Herb Shop are filled with many items that represent
the experiences you'll enjoy in this event-filled summer and
fall. We invited you to stop by and check out the exciting
selection of candies, teas, books, collectibles, souvenirs and
more that promise to extend your Sauder Village experience.
This year our Doll & Teddy Bear Show's gust artist, Linda Smith,
had designed a doll, Emma, that represents the
opening of our new
Pioneer Settlement.
Emma was the granddaughter of Ann Sauder Witmer Roth and will
come with a three-panel screen depicting the Witmer-Roth house.
We also offer a variety of doll-making classes and special
